Our Approach

Who We Are

The Sanctuary is a community based organization led by young women in Uganda. Mental wellness is at the forefront of what we are working towards because we believe it is an integral part of an individual’s wellbeing.

Our programs and activities are designed to be a catalyst that helps communities reach their full potential. We work in the community to raise awareness on issues of mental health and offer psychosocial support to those who need it. We strive to eliminate stigma associated with poor mental health while transforming the outlook people have towards mental illness. The Sanctuary empowers people to share their own stories about living with mental illness to offer hope to many ravaged by it.

As a community organization, we undertake research studies to develop reference materials for action plans and knowledge sharing.
